the coaches collective

a group of empowered and ambitious sport coaches looking to strengthen their skills, expand their expertise, and cultivate their craft… together.

  • how does it work?

the coaches collective is a group of ambitious sport coaches from across sport disciplines that come together in an expert-facilitated, supportive space to discuss a wide range of topics that influence the craft of coaching and the experience of the athlete. we discuss themes around emotional intelligence, body image, athlete nutrition, mental performance, eating disorders, business management, training philosophies, and more. specific topics include concepts like fostering shame resilience, working with perfectionism, nutrition pitfalls and barriers, understanding the impact of auto-immune disorders, coaching the anxious athlete, building a vibrant business, cultivating a healthy competitive mindset, trauma-informed coaching, how to have hard conversations, and navigating social media. the coaches collective is leadership development + psychological training + peer support.

  • why does it matter?

the role of a coach is both complex and critical. athletes rely on their coaches to guide them towards achievement and excellence in their sport, and yet they also look to coaches for much more : emotional support, empathy and understanding, psychological safety, and mentorship. and while not all coaches sign up to deliver on these items, the best coaches in the world carry some knowledge of how to blend coaching for physical performance alongside coaching for mental stability and resiliency. if we have learned anything over the last few decades from the research on sport performance it is that the physical health of the athlete is inextricably linked to the mental health of the athlete. coaches can no longer get away with ‘i didn’t know’ or ‘it’s not my job.’ it is imperative that each coach come to their sport and their athletes equipped with tools to support the whole person, not just the competitor.

  • what will i gain?

what you take away from the collective is in your hands. we know, however, that learning that occurs in a group setting is exponential in its impact. group cohesion imparts a sense of safety in each individual, increasing one’s willingness to be vulnerable, ask questions, and share observations. it is this safety that allows us to take our insight to the next level, and we feel more reassured using what we’ve learned in our practice - in this case, the coaching arena. in addition to the wisdom, confidence, and knowledge that you will gain, you will also build relationships with peers in the space. strong ones. the coaching arena can be competitive and cutthroat, where coaches feel protective of their craft and possessive of their knowledge. in the coaches collective, we share so the group benefits. we trust to grow cohesion. and we contribute to elevate each other, the work, and sports as a whole.
